Ignore ‘outdated’ MHT info: GP
Despite the release of newer information that has increased our understanding of the risks and benefits of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), some Australian GPs are still reluctant to prescribe it.
Furthermore, many women with bothersome menopausal symptoms remain afraid of using MHT because of reports on a study conducted almost 20 years ago.
More recent research has indicated that the results on harm contained in the 2002 ‘Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Hormone Therapy Trials’, were “exaggerated” and varied with age.
